The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year

It has been exactly 376 days since I posted on itsafunnyfunnyworld and there is a very good reason for that........ this past year has not been so funny.

Our Dad was very unwell and died in June, not long after we returned from Egypt and Turkey- and that is a serious funny buzz kill.  Our Dad (and there are 4 of us) had a dry sense of humour and a very good sense of the ridiculous, although, he didn't really lash out with a huge belly laugh that totally took you over, like some (read me only) of his children do.  He was an amazing Dad and is missed every day.

Not long after Dad's funeral, I snapped my achilles tendon (freaken SERIOUSLY!!!?????) I was  chasing a kid around the court.  The ambulance came, they took me away, kids at school told everyone I was dead...... died on the court, chasing kids....... the ultimate in Principal death......

Not dead!  Not funny!

From then on the year was all pretty tough.  I had twin lambs that I had to feed for much of the time I was in plaster!  I would hobble around, make milk,  hobble to Quad bike, feed lambs, hobble back inside and think.....damn it!  Lambs....(insert your own words........mostly about who freaken cares about orphan lambs, eat grass already!!)

My only child left home.   She doesn't NEED me anymore.  (yes, she does, but I have to be careful about not making her realise that)

Achilles is up there among the most sucky, suck sucking suckville injuries!!!  It is 3 months in plaster, than another feels like 57000 years in an elevated shoe and another seriously long time getting to know your physio..... way too well.... what do you talk about for 30 minutes each session for months and months???

The following Monday, after the Achilles blew out, my school demolition began.  The end of the year was a blur of hospital visits, Dr. appointments, buildings being smashed up, no where to park and ..... seriously strong medication!!!

Goodbye school.  (and I mean that in terms of the demolition, not the seriously strong medication terms)

So this rant has a point......  I can honestly say that the last 376 days have been up there among the worst days of my life.  There has been funny stuff, but it's hard to laugh and hobble and its hard to laugh and not be able to regale Dad with the story at the end of the day.  Totally miss him and the balance he bought to our lives.  Now we just say "Dad would have loved that!"

Love them, while you have them.  They are a long time gone.    :)
